Subby V Squid (for playdate)
A downloadable game
Simple game I made for the PlayJam. Find the squid coming towards you with The Crank™ and press A to scare them away. You can press A in the game over screen to start again. If you play on your playdate, please send me a photo on my Mastodon as I love seeing new photos of the playdate. If you run into any issues, please let me know by leaving a comment or reaching out in any way you feel comfortable.

this game is sooooo charming!
The minimal design is super inviting and fun.
Would you be willing to implement dpad input for the action button? Reaching for the A button is a stretch and creates a crowded feeling with the crank being so close.
My thought is to have all buttons, including the four directional commands, scare away the squid. That way users can choose whatever they like for the action

Yes! you can use the playdate simulator for PC

The playdate simulator is free to use even if you don't have a playdate. Unfortunately, porting the game to PC would be a lot more work than it's worth, I'd basically have to remake the game in an entirely different framework.

Looks like a cool game but just crashes my playdate on loading :(
yeah, i'm sorry about that, i am going to try to fix it once I have the time but i am currently overloaded with projects lol
